Our mission

Our mission is to:

Encourage and support adults to make their first steps back into learning and so become more active economically, in their families and communities, and maintain better health.

The Service provides learning opportunities in a wide variety of community venues, focused on deprived areas where we can make a difference for adults and their families. Information advice and guidance is the business of all staff and volunteers at Camden ACL.

What to expect from Camden adult community learning

What you can expect from us:

  • We will provide up to date and impartial information, advice and guidance
  • We will be welcoming, friendly and encouraging to all learners
  • All tutors will inform all learners of the information, advice and guidance service and how they can access it
  • Each learner will have identified learning goals which will be used to discuss future goals and progression 
  • We will answer any queries by telephone or e-mail.  We can also offer learners and potential learners an individual appointment
  • We will treat each learner as an individual and in a fair and equal manner

What Camden adult community learning expect from you

What we expect from you:

  •     To treat your tutor, volunteers, other learners and guest with respect
  •     To help create a safe learning environment that is free from discrimination, harassment or bullying
  •     Follow our Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Prevent regulations
  •     Not to use any language or behaviour that others may find unkind, discriminatory or offensive
  •     Help us keep our centres and equipment clean, tidy and safe
  •     Tell us if you have a disability that may affect your learning or the use of our services
  •     Attend your classes regularly – at least 85% of sessions
  •     Be on time
  •     Let us know if you cannot attend a session
  •     Participate in course feedback and review
  •     Make sure your phone is on ‘silent’ during the session
  •     Make sure you have the things you need for the class
  •     Use our computer equipment safely and responsibly
  •     Let us know if you have any concerns about your safety in the centre or classroom
  •     Let us know if you are not happy with your course
  •     Help us to improve by taking part in surveys and focus groups

Good Work Camden Job Hub - Employment Support

Good Work Camden's Job Hub is a new service for any Camden resident. It gives one-to-one support on anything to do with employment.  This includes:

  • employment advice
  • links to job vacancies
  • support with CVs, job applications and interviews
  • links to training services
  • access to benefits advice
  • direct links to other Camden council services
  • support to address other issues that matter to you

Who are our courses for?

Our courses are for adults aged 19 and over. Priority is given to Camden residents. 

Some of our classes are for particular groups. This might be older people, parents/carers, ESOL learners or people with learning disabilities.

Some of the courses are intended as first steps into learning.

Discretionary Learner Support Fund Policy 22/23

Discretionary Learner Support Fund (DLSF) is available to support learners who are suffering from financial difficulties in relation to their studies at Camden Adult Community Learning.
