Working in housing

Work in housing

How we work

We have built a strong culture across the organisation and our housing service. One that is supportive and transparent, and that values learning.

In particular you’ll be joining at a time where the council at all levels is focused on ways of making the job of work in the service easier. From looking at better systems and processes through to the professionalisation of the service or sector.

We know this is a challenging time, and we’re committed to making sure that our teams have the right information and support to make the best decisions with our tenants and leaseholders.

Across the council we’re making the shift towards more proactive and preventative support or services. This will mean moving towards a more neighbourhood approach, where we have more visibility and presence in our communities; and where we’re working across services and organisations to connect people with the support, at the right time.

We believe in the power of relational working. This means putting our residents at the heart of everything we do; building trusted relationships with them and working together to resolve issues they might be facing.

Who we are

Our housing service sits within the council’s wider ‘Supporting Communities’ directorate. We are made up of various frontline and non-frontline roles, some based in our neighbourhoods and some based in our offices.

The roles

We have just completed a period of reviewing our roles, teams and structures to make sure that we are best set-up for success in the future. We’ve taken time to understand the skills and expertise that we think we need to deliver high quality services and best respond to changing regulation.

Housing and repairs job roles will be advertised on our jobs portal.
