Housing at Camden - Camden Careers
Thank you for visiting our site. We’re thrilled that you might be interested in working here at Camden and being part of our ambitious plans to best support our tenants and leaseholders.
Now is a challenging time to work in housing and local government. Housing nationally is in a period of big change, and here in Camden we are seeing and responding to some these challenges.
Camden has always been a place full of passion, heart and determination - it runs through everything we do here at the council and our wider borough.
Despite some of the challenges that we have ahead of us, we believe that now is one of the most exciting and hopefully rewarding times to join us and develop your practice and career in housing, in a supportive and caring environment. It's an exciting time to join Camden our staff are getting involved in changing and improving our services.
We have set out some bold ambitions for how we will best meet the needs of our tenants and leaseholders. We are working together across our housing service and wider council to work out how we best deliver on these ambitions.
We want and need to think and work differently, and we’re excited to welcome people into our creative and passionate service to help us to continue doing just that.
About Camden
Camden is a hugely diverse, vibrant and creative London borough. We have around 218,000 people living here, calling Camden their home.
Camden Council is the borough’s largest provider of social housing, and one of the biggest in London and the country with a housing stock of over 33,500 properties, with approximately 22,400 tenants and around 9,500 leaseholders.
Our ambitions for housing across Camden, the unique challenges of the housing sector and the breadth of responsibility we hold; make Camden Council and our housing service a varied and dynamic place to work.
We Make Camden and our missions
Despite being home to some of the world’s leading institutions and businesses, we have huge disparities and inequalities across the Borough. We Make Camden is our response to how we’ll work together as one council to address these inequalities.
We Make Camden outlines 4 ‘missions’ that set out long-term, cross cutting goals to address the inequalities:
- diversity
- youth
- food
- estates
We’ve set them up to encourage us to work across services and siloes in the council, and think more about how we work closely with partners across the borough.
Housing and our interaction with our tenants and leaseholders play a huge part in achieving these missions - specifically by 2030 making our ‘estates and neighbourhoods healthy and sustainable places to live that unlock creativity across Camden.’
Our housing services in Camden
We are at the start of an exciting period of change in housing across Camden. Joining the service and team brings a real opportunity to influence and shape how we do things and meet the needs of our tenants, communities and leaseholders.
We know that this is a challenging time to work in housing up and down the country, but we are focused on achieving our goal that everyone in Camden has a place that they can feel proud of and happy to call home. That all of our tenants live in housing that is stable and provides the foundations from which people can build a life where they thrive.
