Area Based Schemes
Transport improvement schemes are called Area Based Schemes. They usually take a number of years to complete and include public consultations.
Areas Based Schemes include:
- Camden and Kentish Town
- Chalk Farm and Primrose Hill
- the West End
- Holborn
- Farringdon and Kings Cross
- improve access to local services and facilities
- encourage more walking, cycling and public transport use
- improve road safety – for example by adding new crossing points
- improve public spaces and streets – for example, planting trees and improving pavements
- designing streets and public spaces which reduce the change of crime and anti-social behaviour
- allow tourism and businesses to succeed
