Completion certificates for current works 

We will only issue a completion certificate when:  

• a surveyor has inspected the completed work  
• all other appropriate certificates have been received  
• all building control charges have been paid  

If you have completed all the above and are still waiting for your certificate, email [email protected].

If you applied with a Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA) 

If the application was made privately with an approved RBCA, we cannot provide a completion certificate. You need to contact the RBCA instead. 

Details of the approved RBCA may be available on our database. You can search for building control applications. 

Completion certificates for completed works 

You should search online to see if there is a completion certificate for a particular job or address. 

If you want to have a copy and the job completed more than 1 year ago then you need to make an online payment of £63.12. If it is less than a year, the copy is free. 

To make a payment:

• select ‘Building Control’ from the list of payment types  
• select ‘Miscellaneous without VAT’ 
• enter your 'Application number' which you will receive after you apply, for example '23/0/01000' 
• for the account name, enter ‘BC’ 

You should receive a copy of the certificate within 2 working days.
