Management charge

What the management charge includes

Your lease says you must pay your share of Camden’s costs in managing its leasehold portfolio. This includes management costs relating to:

  • Leaseholder services: Issuing invoices and managing service charge accounts; the day-to-day collection of service charges and investigating/responding to enquiries about service charges; dealing with borough-wide legal cases; general advice to leaseholders.
  • Housing management: Tenant and resident participation; dealing with communal repair issues; general management of tenancies/leases; dealing with anti-social behaviour.
  • Repairs and improvements: The general management of repairs, maintenance and improvements to the communal parts of buildings and estates.

How we calculate the management charge

We calculate the management charge in two ways depending on the age of your lease:

  • Type A lease is usually before November 1996: the leaseholder’s contribution to costs is equal to 10% of all other items included in the service charge. 
  • Type B lease is usually after November 1996: the leaseholder’s contribution to management costs is a proportion of what it actually costs us to manage and administer all our leasehold properties.
