Order a replacement key or fob

Tenants and leaseholders need a key or fob to access: 

  • communal entry doors or gates 
  • bin storage 
  • some estate parking 
  • sheds and garages 

How to order a replacement

Lost key or fob for your home or communal entrance 

You are responsible for getting a new key cut for your front door. You can find a locksmith, or we can do it for you. Find out about our charges for keys

If you lose your fob or key and need access to a communal entrance, estate parking or bin storage then call 020 7974 4444. We’re available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm excluding bank holidays. There is no out-of-hours service. 

If you’ve lost your communal access key for a street property, you should report it to the repairs service.  

Lost estate parking, shed or garage keys and fobs 

The Estate Parking service manages key and fob requests for estate parking, sheds and garages. Email your request for a new key or fob to [email protected]

If you’ve lost your key and cannot access your parked vehicle, call 020 7974 4444. We’re available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm excluding bank holidays. There is no out-of-hours service. 

Stolen key or fob  

If your key or fob is stolen, you must give a valid crime reference number (CAD) when you request a replacement. The police will give you a CAD when you report the theft. You must email this to [email protected].  

Fob not working 

If your fob isn’t working, you must return it to us within 6 months of receiving it. Email [email protected] to report it. 

Charges for keys and fobs 

Charges for replacement fobs start at £10. In some cases, fobs may cost more so we'll let you know when we speak to you. We take payment as part of the call. 

In all cases, our charges for administration and postage are: 

  • £1.70 for first class delivery, we cannot refund for any losses 
  • £2.50 for recorded delivery 
  • £3 for collection 

In some cases, we do not charge for replacement fobs. These include: 

  • bin fobs which are free unless you are ordering an extra one 
  • communal access fobs which are free if you are receiving a full care package 

Collecting your key or fob 

If you would rather collect your key or fob, we will contact you when it’s ready. 

You’ll need to bring photo ID with you like a driving licence or passport to:

Tenancy queries about keys and fobs 

If you're a new council tenant 

You Neighbourhood Housing Officer will give you 3 fobs or keys for the communal entry door as part of the ‘sign-up’ process. You will need to pay if you want more.   

If you're a private rental tenant

You must tell your landlord if you need a replacement key or fob.  

If you're ending your tenancy 

It’s important to return your keys and fobs when you move out of your home. If you do not hand back keys and fobs for estate parking, sheds or garages we’ll continue to charge you rent.
