Looking after your heart

This is your guide to a stronger, healthier heart.

The human heart is a muscle, that works like a pump, to send blood around your body to keep you alive. Heart disease refers to conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels. It is one of the main causes of death and disability in the UK, but it can often largely be prevented with the right lifestyle and medical support.

Our services

Our mission is to connect you with the best local services to help you look after your heart.

NHS Health Check

This is a “free” overall health check-up to check for signs of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease. All GP practices in Camden offer this free service. If you are 40 to 74 years old, haven’t had this check in 5 years and don’t have any of these conditions, you should have been invited to an NHS Health Check by your GP.

If you think you are eligible but have not been invited, contact your GP surgery and ask for an appointment

Visit the NHS Health Check page for more information.

Blood Pressure checks at local pharmacies

This is a free blood pressure check service offered by most pharmacies in Camden. If you are 40 years old and above and currently do not have any heart conditions, you can walk into the pharmacy for this free blood pressure check and don’t need an appointment. Click here to find a pharmacy near you that offers free blood pressure checks.

The pharmacist will also advise you on how to prevent or manage high blood pressure and refer you for further support, if needed.

Camden Mobile Health Bus

If you are 30 years old and above, our Camden mobile health bus will check your risk of getting diabetes and offer you a test for diabetes, all for free. They will advise you on how to prevent diabetes from occurring or stop it from getting worse. They will also refer you to for further support within the borough based on what you need.

You can walk into the bus and ask for this service. An appointment is not required. Click here to view the bus locations and timetable.
