Redesignation of forum

The associated consultation for this redesignation took place between 5 December 2024 and 29 January 2025. The neighbourhood area was not proposed to be changed.

The decision was made by the Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden. The redesignation report and application can be viewed below:

Plan Submission

The Kentish Town Neighbourhood Forum submitted their Neighbourhood Plan to the Council for public consultation in December 2015.

Submitted documents

All responses had to be submitted by 29 January 2016.

Examination

The Council appointed Mr Jeremy Edge to hold an independent examination on the Plan. This was with support from the Kentish Town Neighbourhood Forum. Mr Edge advised the Council that he did not wish to hold a public hearing on the Plan.

The Examiner’s report in March 2016 concluded that the Plan met the Basic Conditions and should proceed to a referendum. This was subject to the policy modifications recommended being made.

The Council then made a decision on the Examiner's recommendations.

Referendum

A referendum was held on 9 June 2016. The referendum question was:

“Do you want the London Borough of Camden to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Kentish Town Neighbourhood Area to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

Of the votes cast, 90.9 per cent supported the Council using the Plan, 8.3 per cent voted against. 0.8 per cent of ballot papers were rejected. The turnout was 13.75 per cent.
