We use the planning applications process to seek the highest possible quality of development that integrates with the surrounding area, and complies with the planning policies in our Local Plan.

Planning Obligations (also known as Section 106 agreements) and the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) are two mechanisms that can be used to ensure the social and physical infrastructure that is needed to support growth is provided. Planning Obligations are used to address the more site-specific impacts of development and CIL is used for more general investment in infrastructure to help address wider impacts, but charging authorities can use funds from both the levy and section 106 planning obligations to pay for the same piece of infrastructure.
