Electoral registers show everyone registered to vote at parliamentary or local elections.
This was based on a property qualification until 1918 when all men over 21 and most women over 30 were given the vote (women may have had local votes at earlier dates if they possessed a property qualification).
This was extended in 1928 to include all women over 21. Registers were not compiled during the First and Second World Wars.
