How children are affected

Children who live with abuse are also victims of the abuse and are harmed by it. This is the case regardless of whether they see, hear, or experience the abuse directly. If children don’t feel secure in their own homes, this can have a negative effect which can continue into adulthood.

Barnardo's has more information on the effects of domestic abuse on children.

It’s important to remember that what your children are experiencing is not your fault. Camden Safety Net and Children’s Services are here to support you and the wellbeing of your children.

How Camden Safety Net can support you

Camden Safety Net recognises that as a victim of abuse, you need support so that you can help to keep your children safe.

  • help you to understand the next steps and your rights and ensure that you have the information you need
  • attend any child in need or child protection meetings with you, this might be face-to-face or online
  • update professionals attending meetings about the safety actions that are in place
